Hacks S04E04 - I Love L.A.

Another week another fabulous episode of Hacks fourth season. After three episodes of tension filled shenanigans between Deborah and Ava this latest episode showcases how true the friendship between the two women truly is. I genuinely cried tears of happiness watching the fourth episode entitled "I Love L.A." not because of deeply emotional confessions instead I was affected my even through strive these women showing the slightest bit of affection is so moving due to everything the two have been through all the ups and downs. After the built up leading to Deborah's big first late night show we experience the veteran comedian experience a panic attack/stage fright during the day before rehearsal. Jean Smart has always been incredible as Deborah and this episode showcases how even with all the brilliant wise cracks and insults she gets to fire Smart is truly wonderful playing the woman behind the star that Deborah is. The moments of pause both during the rehearsal and later...

Hacks S04E03 - What Happens in Vegas

After an impressive two episode premiere two weeks ago we pick up on the season's third episode which again continues the tension of   episodes 1 & 2  between Deborah and Ava really shows at their cores how similar our two funny/loveable women are. Throw in some nameless writers surrounding the two's energy and you have a nice third episode to the season. This episode was a nice return to Vegas of seasons past where we again got to experience the wonders that is Deborah "The Queen of Vegas" also a nice appearance by the always loveable recurring character Kiki (Poppy Liu). While not as compelling as the previous episodes I mostly enjoyed this week's episode especially how the charade Ava and Deborah tried to pull over on the writers room has ended up failing as the two women must now deal with the influence of HR. This plot development giving us more material for Michaela Watkins who even in a few short scenes has made Stacey a great character to experience. T...

The Last of Us S02E02 - Through the Valley

Only week two of this second season and the drama is heightened on The Last of Us and the reaction from what I've seen has been so well acclaimed to a degree very reminiscent of peak Game of Thrones Sundays where audiences would watch a show on HBO being both shocked and entertained by the violence shown. "Through the Valley" of course was directed by Mark Mylod a television director whose name I associate with incredible episodes of television most especially the many episodes for similarly well acclaimed HBO series Succession so when his name was shown in the credits of this episode I was prepared for some television misery. I mean this man directed the incredible "Connor's Wedding" episode of Succession which even just thinking about deeply upsets me. This episode proves that casting Kaitlyn Dever as Abby was such a perfect decision as she proved multiple times throughout this episode that she can so easily play terrifying, heartbreaking, psychotic and ju...
